AudioControl X/XR: Network & First-Boot Setup
AudioControl X/XR: Network & First-Boot Setup
This is the "get it on the network before you commission" step for an X9/X7 processor or an XR8/XR6/XR4 receiver. Complete it before running a Dirac calibration or programming control — both depend on the device being reachable on IP. (The Dirac calibration itself is covered in its own article.)
Network connection
- Put the processor or receiver and the commissioning laptop on the same network/SSID.
- Patch Ethernet from the rear-panel port to the home router or switch. A wired laptop connection is recommended; Wi-Fi is supported.
DHCP mode
- Leave DHCP enabled while commissioning so both the device and the laptop pull an IP from the router's DHCP server. DHCP is on by default.
- A static IP can be assigned after calibration — the tidy install practice is to reserve or set a fixed address once the room is signed off, so control and remote support always find the device at the same place.
Verify the network (front panel)
- Menu > Network — note the IP Address and MAC Address. Record these in the install documentation.
Control setting
- Menu > General Settings > Control > IP — this enables both Dirac and IP control. Press Menu to save and exit.
- If the control design uses RS232, return here after commissioning and switch Control back to RS232.
