Setting Up Push Notifications in the Dahua DMSS App

Push notifications allow the DMSS app to alert the user or the installer on their mobile device when a camera triggers a motion, line crossing, or other alarm event. This is the primary way the system notifies the site owner of activity without requiring the DMSS app to be open.

Prerequisites

Before configuring push notifications:

• A Dahua account must be set up (required for push notification delivery through Dahua's cloud relay).
• DMSS must be installed and the target device must already be added to the app.
• The mobile device must have granted notification permission to DMSS. On iOS, go to Settings > DMSS > Notifications and confirm Allow Notifications is enabled. On Android, this is under App settings.

Step-by-Step Setup

1. Launch the DMSS app

Open DMSS on the mobile device. Navigate to the device you want to configure push notifications for.

2. Open Device Details

Tap on the device to open it, then tap Device Details (the information or gear icon depending on app version).

3. Open Multi-channel Alarm Subscription

Tap Multi-channel Alarm Subscription. This screen shows all camera channels associated with the device.

4. Enable the master alarm slider

At the top right of the Multi-channel Alarm Subscription screen, toggle the slider to the ON position. This enables notifications globally for this device.

5. Select channels

Check the boxes next to each camera channel the user wants to receive notifications from. Channels left unchecked will not send notifications even if the master slider is on.

6. Verify the subscription count

Confirm that the number of checked channels matches the count displayed next to the selected alarm type. The app shows this summary to help catch missed selections.

Notes for the Installer

• Notifications depend on the Dahua cloud relay being reachable. If the device is on an air-gapped network with no internet access, push notifications will not work regardless of the app settings.
• If the end user reports missing notifications, check the device's P2P online status first and confirm the Dahua account associated with DMSS is the same account that owns the device.
• Alarm sensitivity (motion threshold, IVS rules, etc.) is configured on the device itself — not in DMSS. Overly sensitive detection settings will result in notification fatigue for the end user.
