Dante Domain Manager: Site Organisation for Installers
What Is Dante Domain Manager?
Dante Domain Manager (DDM) is server software that provides enterprise-level management of installed Dante AV networks. It works alongside Dante Controller and adds security, user access control, cross-subnet routing, and audit logging — features that larger venues and managed-service installations require.
A 60-day free trial is available; commercial licensing is required after that.
Key Features for Installers
Domain organisation: Divide a Dante network into independent groups of devices called domains. Each domain operates without interfering with others — ideal for a building with multiple independent AV zones (conference rooms, lecture theatres, reception).
Cross-subnet routing: Dante normally requires all devices to be on the same subnet. DDM removes this constraint, allowing Dante signals to route across VLAN and subnet boundaries without performance degradation. This is critical for multi-floor or multi-building AV installations.
User authentication: Manage who can change Dante routing. Assign roles so that venue staff or volunteers can control only the areas they are responsible for. Integrates with LDAP and Active Directory for enterprise-managed user accounts.
Monitoring, alerts, and audit log: DDM provides a dashboard view of the entire Dante network, generates alerts for device issues before they affect performance, and maintains a full audit trail of who changed what and when.
SMPTE 2110 and AES67 support: DDM simplifies integration with broadcast-grade house clocks and standards-based interoperability. Relevant for venues with existing broadcast or AV-over-IP infrastructure.
High availability: DDM can be deployed with a failover server for critical installations where any downtime is unacceptable.
Third-party integration (Dante Managed API): DDM exposes an API for integration with touch panel control systems and monitoring platforms — building automation of Dante network configuration into the wider AV control layer.
