Dante-Enabled Products: Activating Third-Party Apps
The Dante-Enabled Ecosystem
Over 600 manufacturers have integrated Dante into their products — amplifiers, microphones, DSPs, mixers, cameras, intercoms, and more. When a product is listed as Dante-enabled, it carries a Dante audio interface that can be discovered, routed, and managed by Dante Controller without additional drivers or configuration.

Dante Ready and Dante Activator
Some third-party applications use a capability called Dante Ready. These applications are installed on a PC or Mac and begin with a limited number of Dante audio channels. The installer — or end user with admin rights — can purchase additional channel capacity after installation using Audinate's Dante Activator tool.
Activation process (step by step):
Download and install the third-party application on the target machine.
Launch the application and leave it running.
Open Dante Controller (version 4.5 or higher) and select the Dante Ready Activator tool from the toolbar.
The Activator displays the available channel purchase options for that application.
Log in with an Audinate account when prompted.
Enter payment details and complete the transaction.
The application now has the purchased Dante channels available immediately — no reboot required.
This model is common in corporate AV applications where a site may start with a basic channel count and expand later as requirements grow. The installer should communicate the Activator process to the end client or system administrator so they know how to expand capacity without contacting the original integrator for every upgrade.
Why Interoperability Matters on Install
The advantage of the Dante ecosystem is signal-path flexibility. Any Dante transmitter — regardless of manufacturer — can route audio to any Dante receiver on the same network. A microphone from Shure, routed through an amplifier from QSC, sending audio to a recorder from TASCAM, is a common real-world configuration. Dante Controller manages the routing as a unified matrix.
For the installer, this means the system design is constrained by the client's signal requirements and budget — not by which manufacturers' products happen to use the same proprietary networking protocol.
