What Is Dante Virtual Soundcard?
Dante Virtual Soundcard (DVS) is licensed software that turns a standard PC or Mac into a Dante-enabled audio device. Once installed, the computer appears as a Dante device in Dante Controller and can transmit and receive up to 64 x 64 channels of uncompressed audio over the existing wired network connection.
This is useful for recording rigs, AV presentation systems, and any installation where a computer needs to send or receive audio from a Dante network without a dedicated hardware interface.
Key Capabilities
Multichannel recording: DVS allows capture of multichannel uncompressed audio directly into a DAW. Each Dante channel appears as a separate audio input in the recording application — no additional hardware required.
Conferencing and unified communications: DVS routes audio from the room Dante network into conferencing software (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex). The computer's mic and speaker appear as Dante endpoints, enabling full network integration of the conference codec.
Playback to Dante systems: Any audio application on the computer (media players, presentation software) can route output to Dante-enabled amplifiers, DSPs, or ceiling speakers without additional cabling.
Installation and Licensing
DVS is available for macOS and Windows. A per-machine licence is required. The installer registers DVS as a standard audio device in the operating system — no driver configuration beyond this is needed. Assign channels and routing through Dante Controller.
For installations where zero software installation on the client machine is required, use a Dante AVIO USB adapter instead.
