This guide covers installation, configuration and operation for the Vaddio RoboSHOT 30E-M professional pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) camera. Before you install
- Don't void your warranty — only power the camera from PoE+ on a compliant switch/injector, or from the approved external power supply. Don't improvise the power.
- Run a pre-installation functional check on the bench before committing the camera into position — confirm it powers up, reaches the network and responds.
Cabling
- The HDBaseT / network cabling carries control and (with PoE+) power on one run, so plan the cable path before you fix the mount.
- Terminate Cat-5e or better to spec and test every cable before final dressing — a marginal run shows up as dropouts later.
Mounting
- Wall mount: install the supplied wall mount first, then fit the camera to it.
- Ceiling mount: the camera supports inverted ceiling mounting — set the image flip in the web interface so the picture is the right way up.
- Confirm the fixing surface takes the weight and gives the camera a clear view of the area to be captured.
Powering up
- Power via PoE+ from a compliant switch/injector, or via the external supply.
- Watch the status light during boot.
- The IP button on the camera reveals the current IP address — handy for first access.
Initial device set-up
Vaddio gives you three routes for first-time set-up:
- Vaddio Device Controller — touchscreen/device-based set-up.
- Vaddio Deployment Tool — for provisioning across multiple devices.
- Manual access — browse directly to the camera's IP. If the camera is in its default state it sits at 169.254.1.1 (link-local); set your laptop to a matching subnet to reach it, then complete the initial set-up (admin password, etc).
System administration (web interface)
- Security: set admin and user credentials and access settings.
- Network: assign a static IP where the install needs a fixed address; set the hostname; specify time zone and NTP server.
- Room info: label the camera's web interface with the room details.
Configuring camera behaviour
- Set the Home position and store preset shots; rename buttons to suit the room.
- Build preset chains for automated sequences.
- Tune colour, lighting and image quality; adjust focus.
- Set movement speeds for manual moves and for moves to presets, and tune Tri-Synchronous Motion speed.
Streaming
The camera does USB streaming — view and configure the USB stream from the web interface (resolution, frame rate, etc).
Maintenance
- Reboot from the web interface when needed.
- Export / import a configuration to clone settings or back them up before a firmware change.
- Firmware updates are applied through the web interface — don't interrupt one in progress.
- Vaddio support and diagnostic logs are reachable from the same screens if you need to escalate.
Operating the camera
Drive the camera from the IR remote, the web interface, RS-232 or Telnet: stop/resume video, manage the ready state, move to presets, and pan/tilt/zoom. A CLISH (command-line) reference is included in the source manual for control-system integrators.
Troubleshooting quick reference
- No video: check the cabling and that the camera has power (status light).
- Can't reach the web interface: verify the IP address (use the IP button) and the network link; if at 169.254.1.1, match your laptop's subnet.
- Camera not responding: check power and reboot.
- Need a clean slate: restore factory defaults from the web interface or via
system factory-reset.
