AudioControl X/XR: IP & RS232 Control Setup
AudioControl X/XR: IP & RS232 Control Setup
AudioControl X-series processors and XR-series receivers integrate with the main control platforms — Control4, Crestron, Savant and RTI — over IP, RS232 or IR. This is the installer's setup sequence for getting the device under control-system control reliably.
Configuration steps
- General Settings > Control — choose IP or RS232 as the control method.
- HDMI Settings > HDMI Bypass & IP — set to "HDMI & IP On".
- Engineering > Standby Mode — set to Manual.
Setting standby to Manual stops the device dropping into an auto-standby state that would kill the control connection. Combined with "HDMI & IP On", this keeps IP control alive even in standby — the key to automation that responds reliably rather than waking up half a second late or not at all.
Driver modules and code tables
AudioControl publishes driver modules and automation tables (Excel) containing serial codes, IR-to-HEX values and RC-5 IR codes on the product download pages for the X7 / X9 processors and the XR8 / XR6 / XR4 receivers. Pull these for the model on site before programming the controller.
Note for Dirac calibration
IP control must also be enabled to run a Dirac Live calibration. If the installer is commissioning the room as well, set Control to IP first, run Dirac, then switch back to RS232 afterwards if the control design calls for serial.
