Cambium cnPilot Wi-Fi Access Points: Installer Overview
Cambium cnPilot is a range of 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) access points for indoor and outdoor deployments. Indoor models cover high-density office and hospitality environments; outdoor models provide coverage across car parks, grounds, and campus perimeters. All models are managed through the cnMaestro cloud or on-premises management platform.
Management via cnMaestro
Every cnPilot access point is managed from cnMaestro, which provides:
- Centralised dashboard: A single view across the entire installed estate, covering all access points and (when cnMatrix switches are deployed) the wired network as well.
- Remote configuration: SSID profiles, VLAN assignments, QoS, and RF settings can be pushed remotely without visiting the site.
- Lifecycle management: Inventory tracking, onboarding, and firmware updates from the cloud.
- Rich statistics and diagnostics: Per-device and per-client statistics for rapid fault identification.
Key Deployment Scenarios
Home and small business: cnPilot home Wi-Fi models (802.11ac and 802.11n) are compatible with PMP 450 and ePMP subscriber modules — suitable for installations where the backhaul is a Cambium fixed-wireless link.
Enterprise and hospitality: cnPilot enterprise access points support multiple SSIDs with per-SSID VLAN and QoS policies. Personal Wi-Fi (ePSK) assigns each user a unique pre-shared key and dedicated VLAN, providing network isolation in shared environments.
Deployment Notes for Installers
cnPilot access points are zero-touch provisioned when registered to cnMaestro before shipping. The installer mounts and cables the access point; it connects to the management platform automatically. Firmware and configuration are pushed before the site visit ends.
