Please see below statement from DrayTek and troubleshooting steps for any customers experiencing issue with Routers losing connection.
We would like to address a recent issue reported by several Internet Service Providers (ISPs) regarding DrayTek routers unexpectedly disconnecting from the Internet. We stand with our customers during these unprecedented CVE vulnerability attacks. Our products are engineered for exceptional stability and longevity, which is why many end-of-life (EOL) models, some over a decade old, remain in use worldwide. These issues have been linked to intermittent connection drops, where some routers appear to lose connection, go up and down, and disrupt service. These intermittent disconnections have been mainly impacting older models or models running an older firmware version.
DrayTek takes these reports seriously and we are actively investigating the situation. We recommend the following troubleshooting steps for customers experiencing issues:
- Disconnect the WAN cable and log into the router’s Web UI to check the system uptime. If the uptime is lower than the last known reboot, this indicates the router has recently restarted.
- Disable Remote Management and SSL VPN Service from the respective settings menus.
- Reboot the router and reconnect the WAN cable.
- Monitor the connection to see if the WAN remains stable.
If it is absolutely essential for remote management to remain enabled, then disabling the SSL VPN Service and enabling an ACL with remote management enabled has been found to be a workaround.
If you are using VigorACS to manage your devices, then the following tr069 parameters can be used to provision units en-mass. Test fully before making any changes.
The tr069 parameter for enabling / disable SSL VPN is:
InternetGatewayDevice.X_00507F_VPN.RemoteAccessCtl.SSLVPNSrvEnable
true | false
To manage a device via VigorACS but disable HTTPS / HTTP it needs
InternetGatewayDevice.X_00507F_System.Management.AllowManagementfromInternet = true
InternetGatewayDevice.X_00507F_System.Management.HTTPSServer = false
InternetGatewayDevice.X_00507F_System.Management.SSHServer = false
InternetGatewayDevice.X_00507F_System.Management.TR069Server = true
Additionally, please verify that your router's firmware is up to date. If your device is running an outdated firmware version, please update it to the latest version after ensuring you have a backup of your current configuration.
